Yea it might not be as sexy as yours, but it fits in the budget, easy to maintain for a 1st time owner and more importantly it gets me in the water with the fish, big enough for most lakes and my kids can tube behind her.
Anyway she's a 2000 Bass Cat Lakesport 17.5ft Aluminum boat with a 75hp Mariner, has trolling motor fish finder(need to replace when I get extra money), 3 batteries, built in charger, fuel tank, lots of storage and little to no wood to rot or fix.
I'll get her cleaned up and maybe even a nice paint job for her and the trailer. Compression in all 3 cylinder were 120psi, engine was very clean, no dings in the hull that I could see
Now more importantly, what do you guys think, is it a good boat for beginners? any tips, suggestion?

Great looking boat and you won't have to worry as much as you would with fiberglass.

Nice looking boat ~ I seem to remember seeing that one for sale not to long ago....
I'll say this ~ it's nicer than my first one and about the same price ~ now get the kiddo's out in it and get them adicted like my dad did for me!

I get to pick her up tomorrow and I have some stuff I wanna do like clean the hull, change the water pump and change the lower gear oil(just in case), install a radio and speakers, move current fish finder up front and install a new one with GPS in the cockpit(yea I know). As for my boy we just went and got him a new Bass Pro shop qualifier reel with a BPS Johhny Morris rod.
Anyone know if I should really remove the direct oil injection and just mix the oil/gas? how hard is it?
