If these things are so good, then why does Academy have them for $6.99, buy one, get one free??

If these things are so good, then why does Academy have them for $6.99, buy one, get one free?? Same reason they offer discounts and promos on other brands/products. It gets people in the door and makes the registers sing. I guess when they have the rod riot sale that all the rods are not very good so they discount them up to 50-75%?

Because $10 for 5 hooks is too much and no one is buying them.

keep a very close eye on the hook points, they are so sharp and needle point fine that they WILL roll on you. You also wont need a bubba hook set or they will cut a larger than needed hole in the fish's mouth and come out very easily on a head shake.
Trokar is one of my favorite hook brands!

The tip of the hook will bend though. Cost me two tournaments! Went back to Gamakatsu! Trokar cost too much to be throwing away because the tip bends!

I found out last week at Lake Fork it's a useless hook if I don't make a proper hook tie! Darn fish keep my hook and spit back my line with a little curley end~~LOL

I always put them on my Christ mas list so I don't have to pay for them my self and have used them since they came out. I love them but you do have an occasional roll over on the point so you need to keep an eye on them. I just file it back and seems to be just as good. Owners are still best for money when it comes out of my wallet I think.

+1 on the hooks bending at the point. very sharp but the quality versus cost. Going back to Gamakatsu myself. I wouldnt trust them in a tournament, could cost you more money.

I actually have had really good luck the last few weeks using Trokars. Love the sharpness and i have pitched them all around Fork and Worth in nasty cover and have yet to roll a point. All i use are the flipping hooks though. I am really liking them a lot.
