Hey I just wanted to ask if anybody has any experience fishing turtle creek in Dallas? Over by the lakeside area? Or any urban creeks about 1ft to 4 foot deep in all places and at most 40 yes wide, but I mostly fish the 10yd wide areas. And there are a few trees on the bank but not many that bend over, and a few bridges. I've tried everything and the most productive is a beetle spin, but that's still about a fish an hour.. I know there there I can see a lot since it is so shallow. They just don't take the bait! Thanks for answers

Not much experience in Dallas Creeks but, about 13 years ago, when I resided in Round Rock, I used to live on Brushy Creek and the fish were as you described, Spooky. I used Mini-Sluggos and Super Fluke Jrs (Small Weightless Soft Plastic Jerkbaits) in natural colors and did well. 2/0 to 3/0 offset worm hooks. Might want to try downsizing with Spin gear and Florocarbon line-6 to 8 lb. That was my Creek setup 90% of the time. Hope this helps! Welcome to TFF!

I would also look at four inch Senkos especially the slim four inch Senkos. Small creature baits could also work well if you use a small 1/8th ounce or small bullet weight Texas Rigged. Other baits would be 1/8th ounce or smaller spinner baits, and very small crankbaits. TFP

I fish creeks like those all the time.
For quantity, use finesse-style soft plastics with as little weight as possible.
For quality, larger softplastics, 3/8 ounce hard lures, and jigs.

Also what if the creek is moving pretty fast? If the current is pretty fast, find coves or pools that have calmer water. Bass prefer to stay in calmer waters to wait for any prey to pass by them. If the current is slow, use a little more weight. Cast and Retrieve WITH the direction of the current (not against the current). All fish face against the current; your lure will be in their sights much longer.

Yes, pretty much. I forgot to add, you should also provide a slower presentation. Even when using downsized lures, you have the unlikely chance to hook a big one. I caught this 5.5# a month ago at this creek (that's only 3 feet deep max, and about 15 feet wide). I caught it on a weightless TX-rigged 8" worm. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt..._PB#Post7332323

Use 1/16th and 1/8th oz rooster tails on spinning gear with 6 lb line and you can catch every fish that swims in those creeks, bass, bream, those green sunfish with the yellow tips on the fins, everything but the catfish. The only variable is the retrieve style and speed. They are generally in the pools that are bordered by riffles in shallower creeks and they are often beneath undercut banks. They also hide between and under rocks and broken concrete in creeks likes Joe's, which was partially channelized in the 1960's. Turtle is deep and sluggish and probably the flukes would work since it should have bigger fish.
Walk quietly and stand still while you fish. Generally a slow steady retrieve works best.
A flyrod with a small popping bug works well during the summer time if you have enough clearance to cast.
Real trucks don't need spark plugs.
