State park raised the price to $5 a man on 3/19. I know because I swore off the Pothole Marina a month ago. Guess I will get annual pass & camp a little. My dad was splitting a slip with Jimmy & Joe until recently. I use the slip if I am pretty sure the guides are gone for the day & nobody around. The lovely shapely lady running Holiday gave me a ration of [censored] about using the slip & I swore to never contribute any more money to Pothole Marina.Don't care how much pain & money it costs me I will use the State Park from now on. Never mind the old man rented a spot from them for 15 years, I guess that wont get ya enough consideration to use their lovely facilities for an hour to clean fish. Oh well at least I don't have to worry about the pot holes or the restrooms any more.
Personal best : Freshwater Red - 26.11lb. Striper - 15lb. Black- 7lb.

We ( LTSA ) meet with the State Park back before they had a cleaning station about trying to help get one at the park...they told us they wanted $25000 to put one in...yep twenty five thousand dollars !!....we decided we could not help them!! Maybe yall can do better...Good Luck. Maybe someone should make the same offer to one of the marinas other than Holiday....bet it wouldn't cost $25k either.

I have a question about the State Park site. Is it the same site that White Deer Landing use to occupy. It's many years since I have been that far south on the lake. Last time I was at White Deer (1994 or so) the place was abandoned.
Reggie The State Park was there before 1994.

Some things never change.... Learned how to fish on Tawakoni when I was 8 years old 45 years ago.I presently live in Pensacola, Florida and regularly fish the amazing Gulf out to 100+ miles. I have fished 100+ places from Canada to Mexico and everything in between, and to this day Tawakoni consistently produces as well as any body of water I have been on. Since the late 70's, the facilities throughout the lake quite frankly have downright sucked compared to the rest of the state and country. The lake is supposed to be managed by the Sabine River Authority, (SRA), and they initially built a variety of recreational facilities when the lake was created in the 1950's; virtually all of which have since collapsed and are abandoned due to a lack of maintenance. The state park is the only facility on the lake that resembles the "norm" you will find anywhere else. One facility for 40,000+ acres. Since impoundment, the SRA has only concerned itself with how much water it can sell to surrounding communities, especially the City of Dallas, which of late literally sucks the lake to the verge of recreational dysfunction every summer. But fortunately for all of us, the fish that make up this exceptional fishery are oblivious to the relatively pathetic state of affairs on shore, and I will continue to fish it every chance I get
Grew up on Tawakoni and Texoma before hybrids and stripers existed on either.

You know you can buy stainless cleaning tables and sinks at the restaurant auction accbid.com real cheap. They have tons of them every week or so. Get a pump and hose, some drain pipe and electric hookup. I would guess it would cost no more $1000 depending on how far you have to run the electric from. The electric needs to be GFCI breaker, still not rocket science.

I will not use Holiday simply because of the bathrooms. They are nastier than a port of potty!! I always wondered what the $5 launch fee goes toward? Road improvements, ramp improvements, bathroom facilities, or cigarettes?
I bought a state park pass and use that location when I take my wife simple because the facilities are nice. I do not like the people at the state park but the area is nice and safe.

I use Holiday, and have simply gotten to the point where I expect absolutley nothing from the facility aside from an envelope to put my money in so i can poke it thru the crack in the locked door, and a boat ramp. That's it, nothing else!
When my wife and/or daughter go with me to Tawok. I always bring the minnow bucket along. There is no way in Hell i am walking my daughter within 30' of their bathrooms, and my wife will not go near them either.
It is a crying shame that no-one will make an honest effort out of that place. It could be the Belle of the lake with the land they have, and their geographic location on the lake. It's just too bad no-one sees the potential in that place, and is willing to kick in the money to bring it back to life.
My advice to anyone fishing with a female on the boat.......Take a minnow bucket with you.....Problem solved.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

They could clean it up and make it nice for less than a $1000 dollars and the people that would use it would make up the money in a year.
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.
