Took the wife to RayBob on Sat (08/10) with the intent of catching some sandies. Got on the lake about 7AM and decided to try some main lake points for some blacks until the sandies showed up. Didn't take her long to have three blacks in the boat while I had nada, zip, zero. My first reaction was I better catch something soon or we are going after those sandies that are blowing up all around us. As hard as it was, I resisted the urge and stayed the course. Only fished for about 4 hours before calling it quits with a
team effort of 13; she caught 7 to my 6! She was quite happy since she caught more than I did, got to eat at Clark's BBQ and didn't have to invest her entire Sat fishing. While I would have loved to stay longer, sometimes you gotta be flexible.

Pattern
=======
* main lake point with big flat and deeper
water close by.
* early fish were up in 2-3 feet of water
and split-shot flukes were the key working
around buck brush.
* continued to move deeper (4-6 feet and then
8-12 feet) about mid-morning. Went to a
heavier CR rig flukes the deeper we went.

Good luck!

KB, Great report! I like the pattern format. Man, I can't believe you admitted here in public that the wife caught more than you. Ha ha. That's the way it goes sometimes and I know she can catch fish. Later, Bob

Hey Bob, I just reminded her that it was her guide! Oh well, that is my story and I am sticking to it. When I asked her if she was ready to go again I got a big "You bet"!

Think I'll keep her out there just a little longer on each trip. However, I don't think I can keep her out there for a full 18 hours like you though. HA!

Split shot and light carolina rigged flukes has been the pattern I've been on, too. They have produced well the past two times I have been out. I've concentrated on grass on break lines and shallow tank dams, though. I'll have to give points a try, too.
