Around a month ago I had two successful trips with total weight of combined fish around 70-80lbs with fish in the 20lb+ range. See sig pic farthest right.
Last three trips however the last few weeks I have fished hard and long and had a trip of 12 small ones with the biggest around 4lbs and I have had two other trips of maybe 4-5 fish all under 2lbs.
This poses the question, how shallow should I target? I had a lot of luck around 17ft the previous month. Do I head shallower?

From now thru may you can't fish too shallow......if its wet there are fish. You also need to be on the move, no bites in 15 mins move. You should consider a guide trip with someone like Bobby Kubin, it will shorten your learning curve substantially.

His reports are big time. Any other advice on water depth?

I've been catching some really good ones the last 2 weeks in feeder creeks, as shallow as 2 ft. If they can keep their back under water it ain't too shallow. Don't get stuck doing what used to work, it's all changed now with the spawn, if you don't get action quik move, put on fresh bait, or try different bait.
