Well folks, it is that time of year again, and we all have a case of cabin fever. The water is so cold most of the finny critters we seek have a severe case of lockjaw. Hunting season is quickly winding down or already closed on many species. What is an outdoors person to do to stave off the between seasons doldrums. The Texas Fishing and Outdoors Show comes to the Big Town Exposition Center Friday, January 17 through Sunday January 19. This is your once a year chance to see all of the new fishing tackle items for the 2003 season. Many of these items are not in the stores yet and this will be your first chance to see and purchase them at discounted special show prices. Many manufactures will have personnel on hand to explain and demonstrate their products in the 6,000 gallon fish simulator, where fishermen can learn what the lure looks like to the fish and what action it will have underwater, as well as how the fish will react to the lure when it is fished with different techniques. These demos will run for 30 minutes with a different person doing them every 30 minutes.
The show will also have non-stop seminars in the seminar room. They will also have a different guide or pro angler doing 30 minute seminars non-stop. By popular demand the show will once again offer the round table discussions in the seminar room. The round tables will feature three guides and or pros. Attendees will be able to ask a question and get 3 opinions to answer their questions.
Lady anglers on Saturday will include Bonita Staples, a well known tournament angler, Barbara Stevenson, a guide on Lake Fork and also a tournament angler, Cheryl Davenport, a well known guide on Lake Fork and tournament angler, plus Kathy Majors, Texas Fisheries Hall of Famer, long time professional angler, author, and host of her own T.V. The lucky winner will stay aboard a luxury houseboat, which moves at night so the anglers will fish new areas each day. The fishing boats are towed behind the mother ship and each morning 2 anglers will board a boat with their guide and head out for an unbelievable day of fishing. The trip includes all food and beverages. The value of this trip is $6,400.00. Listen to KZPS 92.5 and come to the show to win the ultimate salt water fishing trip of a lifetime. The lucky winners of this trip will stay aboard the 100' Due South III. The ship will depart at 5:00 pm Thursday, and the angler will awaken at the Chandeleur Islands and have breakfast. Then they will depart for the day to fish the protected waters around the islands. Now folks, this is the ultimate fishing trip for trophy speckled trout & redfish, and flounder. Also Hacienda Lago Guerro will be giving away a trip to fish beautiful Lake Vicente Guerro located about two hundred miles south of Brownsville, Texas - Mexico border.
