I struggled to find anything when researching canoe speed with a 30lb thrust trolling motor this week. So I pulled mine from Navionics on my phone today. It was 2.7 to 2.9 mph going into a slight current. Canoe is a 16 ft Pelican that weighs in the 1 teens. Coming back with current was 3.8 to 4. Until the battery started going down. Ran it continuously for 1.5 hours out and about the same back.

When my battery goes dead I just eat a little beef jerky and have a rockstar energy drink!

The battery is an older Optima Blue d31m. It's at least a couple years old. Heavy. I weigh 230. So I estimate there was at least 430lbs with boat included. I ran the motor on high going and coming back. Also ran as needed moving around for 3 hours of fishing.

One other answer. I ran it from Trophy Club Park past 377 and back. Was an hour twenty to an hour thirty each way. So three hours for just coming and going. No I will not launch that far away again without a gas motor.

I attempted to reach 377 launching from Trophy Club Park in my canoe & 40 lb thrust trolling motor but got scared that my battery might die on me. I think I was a couple of miles from 377 before turning back. I got a deep cycle battery from Walmart that weighs a lot. I'll be out at my local SSSSSL from 4-5hrs, not full throttle for 4-5hrs but moving from spot to spot & always have enough juice to make back at the launch site without having to paddle.
