I've spent some time today reading all the various posts about rods, especially those for rods no more than $100. I'll be kayak fishing and I've already broken one All Star because of the tight spaces I'm going into so I don't want a huge investment. Plus my MH rods are pretty old (12+ yrs) and not all that sensitive.

So I've narrowed it to:
1. Falcon Classic 6'6" MH
2. Abu Veritas 6'6" M
3. Abu Vendetta 6'6" M (read that Abu's are stiffer than the rating)

I'm leaning towards the Vendetta simply because of price, plus I'd like to try split grip. It sounds like you'all like them equally. Anyone out there have an opinion and a recommendation between the 3? Anything to make me want to spend the extra $20 for one of the other two?

My best recommendation would be to get a St. Croix Mojo Bass. This series has split grips. From the rods that you listed, Id recommend the MBC66MHF.

I'm just not a big fan of the Falcons. For C-rigs and T-rigs, I'd lean towards the Veritas, even knowing of the breakage issues. The Vendetta is good too. I'm just not a huge fan of the rods in that price range. The All-Stars and Berkley Lightning rods for $30-$50 aren't awful in comparison to the rods you've mentioned, and the Dobyns/Ducketts in the $150 range are significantly better.

Best all around rod for C-Rig and T-Rig is a Falcon Lowrider in the "Lizard Dragger" model.

I used to use the falcon original for c-rigging. Its not to sensitive to the point that everything feels like a bite but sensitive enough to tell what you are feeling. Couldn't tell you for a t-rig out of the three you mentioned. I use ducketts for most everything. Including c-rigging. I'd recommend at least a 7ft rod for c-rigging if you can fit it in you kayak without breaking it.

The Bucoo BCC-5-166 almost made my list. Its the Bucoo version of the Herm.

I'm really nervous about a 7' rod in the yak, but it may be OK. I'd like the leverage.

Will I loose sensitivity with a H vs. MH? I'm a golfer too and a Stiff vs. X-Stiff means you do, but that's probably apples and oranges.

I originally wanted to get a rod prior to the yak GTG on the 14th of April, but now I'm thinking about waiting since there are some drawings for rods, plus I might be able to cast a few of the other folks rods or at least see how a 7' rod fits in the yak.

Thanks for all of the replies!
