I've always had motorguides but I bought a down imaging DF and wanted protection for the transducer. Minnkota places they're keel forward so the transducer can mount behind. It's worked great...so maybe I favor the Minnkota.

I had that Motorguide with the wireless foot pedal till it grew a mind of its own oneday and took off with no one on the pedal. Had to disconnect it from the battery or we would have died.

A friend who guides on toledo bend uses a minnkota hand control with a motorguide bracket. oversze bushing to allow shaft diameter differance.I liked it.

None the less they are still bent and make alot of racket now and will cost me some money to repair. Had I had motor guides instead, both would have been bent as well from those collisions.
