I injured my shoulder last year and even after surgery and therapy I can't paddle without being in pain. It sucks I'm gonna use the cash towards a boat I guess or maybe a Hobie or something.

The Hobie has overcome a lot that kept me from a regular yak. That aside, the simple advantages of pedaling with your feet are just almost too numerous to keep up with.
Not dealing with the joys and costs of powerboat ownership would make the decision very easy for me.
Good luck either way, Phill

Have you put it on TKF? Thats a great price on the commander and shouldn't have any problems selling her.
I just recently got into a Hobie and what a difference it makes. I also have a rotator cuff injury and after a full weekend of fishing it would take a week to recover.
Good luck on the sale.

I've also got a bad shoulder and what would kill me more than paddling was having to load the kayak onto the top of my Jeep GC.
If you buy the Hobie, I assume you'll be trailering.
The kayak I have now is pretty light at around 39# and I have less problems with the shoulder when loading it. All it takes is a little tweek while loading or unloading, and you can forget about paddling anything after that happens.
TKF classifieds or craigs list, if you don't mind a few noshows and the occassional lowball.

You could get a Outback, or depending on your size even a Revolution. I have a bad shoulder and either I can load in the back of my truck with absoulutly no problems. Heck I load my Pro Angler in the back of my truck and also my trailer with no problems hurting my shoulder any more then it is. It's not about being strong, it's about learning a technique to lift the kayak correctly. I would suggest giving Mariner a call and taking a few Hobies out in a demo peddle. I believe you will be pleasantly suprised with the ease of the mirage drive, and weight of those two kayaks.

Well guys it's done. I sold them. It was like saying goodbye to an old friend. I put the money into my savings jar till I get enough for a Hobie. Got about another $1000 to go. It shouldn't take too long I guess. Till than I'll be on the lakes in the big boat chasing the Crappie and Bass around. Y'all don't harass my river bass to much till I get back out there OK. Thanks for all the advice and good wishes.

I know the feeling about selling the a kayak and feeling like saying goodbye to a old friend. I sold my Outback in order to get my PA and it was tough. Have you decided on what model Hobie yet?

I didn't know it was that tough for you. I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling right now. Even though I have only met you one time, I feel I owe you one. What I can do to help you cope is to get you back your Outback. Yes, even though it hurts me, I am willing to trade my Outback for your PA. What are friends for? Don't worry, I have though long and hard about this.

My lil sister peddles a Hobie hah... I like being out on the lake and relax with a beer on one had and smoke on the other while trolling. Can't do that with anything else other than a Hobie to Native.

Sorry to read this. I know the feeling. I've retired my kayak until after my shoulder surgery. It's a Native Ultimate Propel, and I can pedal myself in it fine, even now, but think I better not be loading and unloading it until my shoulder is better. You might think about testing a pedal drive.
