I am looking for the type of headlight that is basically just a regular old flashlight. It has a funnel-shaped reflector and housing with a clear plastic lens. It's attached to a metal frame and the light is adjustable up and down. The frame has two slots on each side for the headband to pass through. I've never seen one without a red, white and blue band. They are powered by a 6v lantern battery. The three places I have bought them in the past no longer carry them or they are out of business. Anyone know where I can find them?

Back in Sept. I saw one at the Bowie Trade Days. They have a LOT of vintage stuff there.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. I have had a few of those over the years. I can't believe there is not one on ebay, or even a picture. Mine all had red, white and blue straps... lol.
The real question is what do you have against the modern technology?

LOL! That's what my wife asked when I told her I was getting a kayak! IMO I haven't found any of the modern lights that can throw a spot as far and as bright for the same cost (last one I bought was about $10). I don't like straps on my head, so I mount them with screws on a light duty bump cap. The modern lights are made of plastic and are hard to mount on the cap without breaking them. And if you can get one on without breaking it (and assuming it adjust up and down) the thing is so dinky, it can't reach past the bill on the bump cap when you point it downward. If you know of a modern light that can do the job of the one I want and it's under $20-$30, please point me in the right direction!

Have you tried looking at places that cater to Coon Hunters or Giggers?

Nice. I picked up a led headlamp from frys that has uv LEDs in addition to white and green. It's pretty bright and makes the hi-viz line really glow.

I wanted one with the uv but I couldn't find one that had red too. I have a little pin light uv in my tackle box. It's ok but hands free would be better. What kind of light did you get?
