I am thinking about trying out some high visibility line. I am having trouble seeing clear line when throwing plastics. Any recommendations?

I started having the same problem two years ago. I started using P Line CXX in fluorescent blue. Still catching as many fish as I did when I used the clear. Do you find it more difficult to see your line as the sun starts to set?

The easiest line to see is yellow portion of the visible spectrum. There are some real retina burners out there in terms of bright yellow. The Trilene Solar is very bright.
The clear/florescent-blue line can be a nice compromise. In fact I prefer this color of line for top water lures including buzzed spinnerbaits. Consider that you would not go hunting in the East Texas Piney Woods waring desert camouflage, nor would you want to ware woodland green camo in a desert.
Similarly you need to use a line that matches the background that the fish will see your line against. So when fishing a top water the fish is most likely to see your line silhouetted against the sky. For this reason I prefer clear/florescent-blue line in this application. Also, in most East Texas waters are fairly turbid. This means that little UV penetrates more than a foot underwater. It its the UV that causes the dye in the line to fluoresce. Therefore, if youre fishing deeper than two feet it such line reverts to being clear to the fish.

Whatever camo you wwore in Piney Woods, you still gotta wear blaze orange on top it. Not necessarily: Texas Blaze Orange Laws All persons on public hunting lands (state, national forests, and grasslands) during daylight hours when hunting with firearms is permitted must wear at least 400 square inches of hunter orange material with orange headgear, and at least 144 square inches appearing on both chest and back. Exempt from these requirements are: persons hunting turkey, migratory birds, alligators, or desert bighorn sheep< http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/learning/hunter_education/blaze.phtml> TFP

Certainly didn't mean it wasn't usable or great for bass. What I meant was, I use it in 20#-30# test, and I don't cast it all day. It's one of the most popular monos in the world for a reason.

I prefer lo vis green. I fish around a lot of grass and as the fishing physicist mentions I believe it blends in with the surroundings. I don't watch my line that often though

Would it not be green and red, since yellow is comprised of red? The easiest line to see is yellow portion of the visible spectrum. There are some real retina burners out there in terms of bright yellow. The Trilene Solar is very bright.

Great input from everyone. I did several things; I went to the eye dr and found that I needed my correction changed, I bought new sunglasses ( the eye doc had some interesting feedback on sunglasses) and I bought some of the Transoptic line and loaded it on my worm rod. Hopefully all will help!
