Considering this is the time of the year that most will be fortunate to catch fish in bulk, how do you freeze it. On water in ziplock, that's how I do it, I hear you can save them for 1/2 yr or better that way, mine never make it past a month before I thaw them out.
How about this, say you go fishing on wed-thurs, you catch enough to fry on sat-sun, you fillet them when you get home, wash them out. How do you preserve them for 2-3 days only before the fry. In tupperware on a paper towel? In a bowl of water with clear wrap?

Going to eat em in a few days, pack em IN ice. As long as they stay cool enough they will keep for a week Best to rinse in between & wash them with cold water before you cook them. If you want to freeze for a long time (up to 1.5 yrs.) Ziplock FREEZER bags or Tupperware work as long as you add water so they wont burn. Criovack, insulated and packed in dry ice is how they send em from Alaska to here. Freezer burn is what destroys the meat.

I use a foodsaver vacuum packer, I had one bag of fish fall behind the basket in my freezer drawer and it was over 3 years old when I opened it, tasted just as good and the ones I ate the day I packed it.

That vacuum does make a difference IMO. My uncle John puts his mouth on the bag n sucks out the air. He calls it his Mexican crivac. Hey, it works!!!

Ya, that's how they do it at the fish counter, lay them on ice. Coming from FL you normally saw fresh fish behind the counter, but out here the fish quite often doesn't look so fresh. Hopefully in the near future I can give zombies fridge method a try, that or plan on eating the same day. Nothing better then some same day caught filets.

I agree. Fresh caught! The more fresh, the better. The best I personally have had, was not at the dinner table however. Best way IMO is still flopping or fresh dead or whole in the wild. Cooked on the grill, on a stick near the flames or placed on the hot rocks around the fire. It all taste better when your real hungry!!! I like to heavy salt the outside so the skin gets crusty n peels right off. The inside remains moist n taste so good! No filleting, no onion, no batter, no GREASE! No butter, no cilantro, pico, salsa etc etc. Just a man, eating his fish with his hands in the wild! Oh & maybe a shot of whiskey or 2 for a night cap.

I have some friends that use old milk jugs and cut a flap on top, put the fish in and fill with water. Good if you have the room I guess. I like the freezer bags but the water is a must. That vacuum does make a difference IMO. My uncle John puts his mouth on the bag n sucks out the air. He calls it his Mexican crivac. Hey, it works!!!
