Hello, it has been awhile since fishing was on my mind and in my blood with an excellent year of hunting going on; however, this coming weekend I plan to get my boat in the water and chase whites, hybrids, and stripers on Tawakoni with my buddy Good Ol Rebel. We mostly bass fish from his boat at Fork, so this is literally uncharted waters for us. I am not new to fishing, but am still a novice at lake fishing for whites and pretty much anything for stripers and hybrids. Also, let me say I have never been on the lake, but would like to become more familiar with it, as I keep my boat in WIlls Point. Not trying to steal anyone's spot or encroach upon secret info, but anything members could tell me or PM me would be very helpful to help us catch, photo, and RELEASE some fun fish.

Now is a great time for Twak. Birds are working and this makes finding fish simple. We launch at State Park or Holiday. Get an AID Topo map of Twak and look for the Humps. Take Binoculars and then use them. Don't put them in a glove box, keepM out and use them a lot.

Use your trolling motor when approaching birds. Cut your big motor off 150 yes out.

The best way to learn is hire a guide. The topo map will show ya what ya need. 4" Naanaa Sassy shad on 1.0oz jig heads are the ticket. keep a 1.0oz slab tied on too.

Good luck.

+1 on the birds.

Last time I was out there it looked like something out of a Stephen King movie.

Silver glitter is what I have been hearing on the slabs, but, 1oz jighead and a fluke are still the "go to".

Thanks. Are cranks and lipless traps just as effective? I'm mostly a bass and catfisherman. What is the general habits of these fish this time of year? What water depths are they hanging in most? Are the mostly main lake or do they stack in the creeks and oter narrow spots in the lake?

If u want to waste a large amount of time getting two treble hooks out of a 7 to 8 lb hybrid while they r hitting. u can! single hook large jig heads addressed by super D. is the only way to go!

Yep I'm sure a Trap would work, but lots of hooks!

Not only lots of hooks but if the fish are deeper your trap when get down to them.

Sounds to me you need to fish with LakeGuide. Matt is awesome at catching both monster trash, green fish and the monster beatiful striper and hybrids. He lives in Wills Point and you need to check his awesome reports!

Twok is more hazardous now that the lake is back up with sand bars slightly underneath. Good luck!

Oh, and great advices given above!

Water temp at my boat slip was 61 at 5 this afternoon
Birds are everywhere right now

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I finally took a day off and went fishing with Lakeguide Tuesday. Todd is dead on, if you want to learn the lake and catch fish, book a trip with Lakeguide. Matt will keep you on the fish. My arms are still sore from the fish we caught. Get your baits from Moestackleshop.com though. His baits will last longer than anything you buy at the stores. Good luck and post a report when you get back.
