If your in Texas RUN from it! Way to many hoops and loops you have to jump thru to get any paper work from Parks and Wildlife. If the boat is not registerd to the person you are buying it from leave the deal and find anotherone that has a current registration in the name of the person you are buying it from. If the person selling you the motor had the motor titled in his name its not hard to get a lost title but dont buy it until the lost title is in his hand in his name. You'll save yourself a lot of head aches.

I would say it depends. Did the person who is selling it lose it? If so he can get it straightened out fairly easily before you buy it, if it was a previouse owner who "lost" it and sold it to the guy who you want to buy it from... then yes RUN!

if the person that is trying to sell it is in thier name not a big issue but check with parks an wildlife to make sure it is for 60.00 you can get a title in 10 days it has to come to the orig owner of record if there is a lien on it the orignal will go to the bank or credit union if it not in the sellers name or the person you are giving the money to run an dont look back if it is to good of a deal to be true its probly not there is a lot of people buying titled units an not putting them in thier name to avoid paying proper tax an registration a good rule of thumb is if the guy taking the money doesnt have clear titles in thier name just look for a legit deal they are out there without problem deals.

Example Ive got a 2002 25hp Johnson never been titled. TP&Ws web site you can look up serial # to see who's name is on title. Seriously I think its TP&Ws way to get an extra $30
