Went to Calaveras today and fished the Dam and the trees back by the 2 coves across from the kayak launch in my yak and man I could swear everytime these channels hit the live shad I was using for bait it felt like when a LMB hits a spinner bait. Now is it just me or are these pre-spawn cats a bit more aggressive or did the 80 degree water temp make piss them off?? I actually struggled with a couple of 8 lbers that were shaking their head and one actually jumped out of the water like a bass in front of my kayak, I didn't care I was having a blast. One cat snagged my bait and ran off and took me for a sleigh ride on my kayak, when I got him to the boat it he jumped in my lap and slimed my waders and it shook its head so hard it punctured my breathable waders and got my leg real good. I read that cleaning the wound real good and keeping it clean should be ok but does anyone have any experience with a cat spiking? it wasn't deep but its swollen good. Any help is appreciated.

Rub the fishes belly on it. Then clean well when you get home.

Also let it bleed for awhile when it first happens.

+1. Always works for me. But, I very seldom get finned by a live fish. They always exact their revenge on the cleaning table.

I spiked him back with my new Dexter fillet knive. Will enjoy them later this weekend.

I agree with the cussing part along with squeezing my hand cuz thats where they usually get me if they get me at all.

If the wound gets worse or is not getting any better after a day or so go see a doctor. I have been stuck plenty of times and have never had any issues, but I have heard horror storys about what can go wrong.

Like that guy at Whitney last year.......after a week he noticed whiskers starting to grow and his skin was turning green and slimy...........

update: swelling went down but got a nice bruise around the puncture and doesn't hurt as much. now what about those feisty cats, is that normal for pre-spawn cats?

And every full moon he turns into a giant catfish and goes and attacks divers by the dam.

well rubbing the belly on it helps, but if you ever have a horrible itch man vs wild technique piss on it and it helps supposedly i wouldnt let this happen but bear grills would.

my dad got hit one time in the nerves in his hand he was out for 2 weeks!
