I was wondering.
#1 how many reels do you need. I am thinking no more than 2

#2 I have a 12 foot crappie pole and a 6 foot casting pole
is that ok? Don't blast me to hard for not knowing. Just beggining this tube thing.

Jet, I usually fish with one pole. Anything else I would suggest tying down so you don't risk losing it. I've lost more than my fair shair of decent poles by taking more than I use. I generally decide on the type of fishing I am going to be doing. If I am fishing deep water and vertical jiggin, I take one jig pole. If I am in a situation where I am casting, I take one spinning rod/reel. I can change baits plenty quick enough to be in on whatever changes need to be made. The biggest two things to remember is keep it Simple, and as light as possible. Everything you bring, adds weight. There will be times that you want to fish "way over there" and you have to carry your tube some of that distance. The less weight, the better. Remember you will have weight that you need. Keep what you don't need to a minimum.

Yep carrying more than one pole would cumbersome on a tube. If your fishing spawning fish get you a 8ft pole. 12ft is to long and 6ft is to short. Try un-hooking a fish with a 12ft pole in a tube. You have to hold the pole straight up and swing the fish to you with one hand.

90% of my crappie fishing is done from a tube. I only fish with one rod but, I carry two one stays folded up and velcroed to my tube for backup. I use an 8ft rod. As Grainraiser said, 12ft-too long and 6ft-too short.

Question about tubing, do you guys ever get chased by snakes or have other weird stuff hit your legs? I'd freak out. LOL!

The first time I waded to fish with Tarponfly was kind of scary. I jumped everytime I kicked a limb. It was spooky at first but I got use to it pretty quickly. I still prefer to fish from a small boat.

Stucky! LOL! I've never been chased by a snake. I've had them surface right next to me. I've floated and waded into spots where there were a bunch of them. But as much as I love tubing I can't let snakes scare me. I do know the difference between harmless and poisonous.

You would have wet yourself had you been with me year before last. I was wading and was catchin fish in calf deep water in some button willows when I noticed a few snakes in one of the trees. I started lookin around and there were snakes everywhere, some big some not so big, then I saw what looked like a ball of snake about the size of a basketball. It was 2 great big watersnakes balled up together and about 4 foot of snake coming out in opposite directions to their heads the size of my fist. I told my buddy carl, "Carl, I'm gonna let these snake have this spot." And backed out of it. They may not be poisonous, but they are very toothy and when they get ahold of something it's way worse than a turtle and nastier. I'd have to say there were a couple of hundred snakes in there.

See now wait a minute. What have I got myself into? Are ya'll suppose to be encuraging me or making me get my boat fixed? It doesn't matter I will be in the water as soon as I get my waders. If a snake get me i want all of the TFF'ers to split my gear evenly amoung yourselves and keep catching them for the Late GREAT (i wish) Sirjet.

You will get use to it pretty quick. I was never afraid of snakes because they will run from you alot faster than they will run toward you. Infact I prefer to leave them along and let the sun themselves. I would much rather they stay put then scare them and let them hit the water.

Well I guess I need to go and TELL the wife that I AM going to get a new 8ft crappie rig. Pray for me. She has a good right hook. I am going to put my foot down (so I will soften the place my head is going to land)and do it.
