Myself and a buddy were loading up this evening at the 154 public ramp when the game wadren pulls up alongside as I get to the parking lot. I start preparing to dig out all the required stuff for the check he asks us if we are mad at them. Not catching on right away I asked him to repeat it and he laughs and says we must be mad at them to be out on a day like today. He ended up just making small talk and joking around with me for a bit. He even talked fishing for a bit. He never asked for any ID or anything. He was cordial and friendly. I know they often get a bad rap for stopping folks but I appreciate their efforts. I admit I did get a kick out of him asking us if we were mad at them.

I would have loved to be a game warden. But I always heard they don't make enough money. But enjoying your job brings some value to the table.
Glad to hear of such a great encounter. I appreciate them protecting out water!

A game wardens job is probably more dangerous than a cops is. Ought to pay them more money.

I was mad at them little green fish yesterday, BUT I have been putting in a lot of extra hours at work and my wife would have been twice as mad at me. Glad someone carried the torch yesterday, it wasn't me.
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

Man those guys are doing a hard job...a lot of them are anglers like us and it would be hard to to enforce strict laws with the type folks that bass fish, mostly good folks. I have a buddy Heath that's a GW and he's as good as gold and still does his jobs. I have respect for these guys ESPECIALLY the ones on Falcon, that has to be scary!
So Mark, you really must be mad at em if you were out yesterday!!!

A couple of years ago I got back to the ramp and a warden was parked in his truck next to the ramp. I figured he was going to check me as I pulled out. Even though I knew I had everything, your mind starts racing through the check list to be sure. When I pulled the boat out of the water, I had to park it almost right next to his truck. He just waved and that was it. When I finished getting everything ready for the road, I walked over there and said, Hey since you are here and all, give me a walk through exactly like you were checking me on the water just to make sure I am not missing some little technicalitly. I did tell him though, this is voluntary so if you find something - no ticket. He just laughed and said sure. As we were talking, he said he was checking people as they come off the water but bass boat owners always have everything and are the least of their problems.I guess he had profiled me and figure no need to bother.
Oh, and I passed with an A+

I've only ever had one bad encounter with a GW, and i was partly in the wrong, all in all though, these guys do have a pretty tuff job, just imagine how hard it must be pulling into a deer camp at any given time knowing that everyone one there has a gun of some type.

I have had only good encounters with wardens fortunately.....However I believe a lot of them are just making small talk and such to see if you give them a reason to be suspicious, if you are honest and law abiding you will never have anything to worry about.
Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life

I think I ran into the same GW at the same ramp Mark. Nice guy. He drove into the lot as we were tying down the boat and getting ready to pull out. He asked how we did and we chatted about the fishing. The only thing he asked us for was our fishing license.

I'm sure he was talking about the fish. Have you ever heard someone on a terrible weather day say I'm not that mad at them. He was asking you if you were mad at them " fish" not the wardens.

I used to fish on an electric motors only lake up in Ohio and trying to get your boat close enough to your trailer was a PITA and the GW came over and recommended firing up the biggun to get the boat on the trailer before the storm hit.I really appreciated his bending the rules this time!!!
