12/31/2011 34.71% Full
01/31/2012 34.95%
02/16/2012 35.23%

Can't wait to see it at 77% again, but I don't know if it will happen this year. (fingers crossed)

Jonestown is still completely dry. frown It's hard to believe me and A.J. were fishing the marina in 30+' of water last summer and that it's been empty nearly that long.

It is going to take a major Hurricane or a few very big storms to make a difference in Lake Travis. Also Lake Buchanan is in the same shape and also needs some major rain. The other problem these Lakes face is the public consumption in that lots of their water is sold for irrigation further down river. The water usage regulations need to be changed during drought conditions. This problem causes more water loss than the actual drought. The public needs to voice their concerns to the Colorado River Authority who make a lot of money selling that water! nuts

Lake Travis is gonna need a ton more water, glad to see it's coming up a bit though. On a lighter note (for me anyway) Conroe is now only about 5' low instead of 8 banana

Too bad we can't fire he LCRA. It's a worthless agency, but then what government agency isn't? In Arkansas, the COE run the lakes for the State Parks and they have an agreement that during the tourist season, the lakes will be maintained at a specific level so that their tourist business doesn't suffer. Maybe Parks & Wildlife should go take some lessons from the Arkies. My preference is to drive just a little bit further and use their parks and actually get something for my money.

I don't like to wish anyone any hard times, but a hurricane coming up through South Texas would go a long way towards fixing our water problem on Travis.

KXAN:

Of the 10 largest cities in Texas, Austin Water Utility pays 53 percent more for it than the average of those other nine cities.

This is what environmental advocate Paul Robbins found in a new, four-month study.

"Austin has the highest water rates of the top 10 cities. It is highest in all classes, residential, multi-family, commercial and industrial," he said.
