Did you ever get any advice on your Duckweed problem? I can bring home the booklet that tells the ingredients and the mixture to get rid of it.

One and only one triploid grass carp should do the trick.

yes, ONLY ONE! those buggers will literally eat the shrubs on the side of the pond if they had the chance.. arent the "wanted" in some areas? like if you catch one, kill it or eat it, dont release? or in others, you must c&r?

The key term here is "triploid". Asian grass carp are rapid reproducers and varacious eaters. They can eat 30-40% of their body weight a day in vegitation, add to that reaching sizes of 50+ pounds and you have a "pond cow" ."Triploid" , for those of you who aren't familiar with the term, means that thay have been geneticly alterd to be unable to reproduce.Without this they will rapidly reproduce and eat ALL vegitation generally leaving a body of water poor in oxygen and unable to sustain aquatic life.

If memory serves, 1-5 TAGC per surface acre will produce excellent aquatic weed control. For more information check your Agricultural Extension office.

I've checked into the triploid carp you have to send for a permit then if you get approved then go to a dealer that sells them. The pond can't be close to any river, creek, lake, etc. Due to the size and over consumption of vegetation in which you have all stated. They are pretty expensive unless you get them small and let them grow which they will pretty quickly. I had stated that most all the fish were lost last time well the water got low and it was decided to turn the pump up for the fountain. Well apparrently somehow the stuff he used last time killed them again. He stated that he thinks when he turned the pump up it stirred the bottom up pretty good and they were floating belly up again. My mother-in-law is livid still to this day, she stated she didn't want fish anymore due to their luck. I think I'm going to go catch some bream, and put them in there without her knowledge and maybe they'll rejuvenate. Kinda sad she fed these fish daily first time it was all nice channel cats this time it was bream handsized and bigger. Thanks for the info.
