Ever tried the beer batter sold at most stores. You add a can of beer instead of water. Makes good onion rings too. Its close to LJS stuff...

TRY PANCAKE BATTER! IT WILL HAVE A SLIGHT SWEET TASTE, BUT I BALKED AT IT WHEN IT WAS PREPARED THAT WAY FOR ME, BUT IT WAS GOOD, VERY GOOD.

OF COURSE WE WERE EATING CHUNKS OF 80 POUND HALIBUT...MMMMMM.

I HAVE NOT DONE IT, BUT HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT.

Look at this (just click on it) http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/yTfGfhdG...GsysdsfApAOshA/

LONG JOHN SILVER FISHBATTER
2/3 c. beer1,/3 c. lemon juice,1 egg,1/2 c. self-rising flour,Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl with wire whisk until batter is smooth. Let it stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Loosely covered.

Moisten 3 pounds of fish fillets in water. Flour each fillet lightly with all-purpose flour. Let pieces dry without touching on a wire rack.

One piece at a time dip the floured filets in batter and fry in hot oil. Cook fillets about 4 minutes, turn and cook other side.
