When flipping at trees with a jig, which side of the tree gets best results? Thanks

The bottom side, one with water on it.

Seriously, I like to pass any wood structure by a little and work it back through both sides. I key more on the shady side if there is one. During spawn, the side protected from the north wind should produce better. If no bites, I'll throw right on top of it looking for a reaction bite.

If they do relate to one side more than another it seems to depend on the weather. I find that this time of year the fish seem to relate to the sunny side of the cover. During the hot summer time they seem to relate to the shady side of the cover or under a root system.

Every question on here is a good question. Keep asking. Every stump and bush has a good side on any particular day, season, spawn, sun, clouds, wind and etc... It want take you long to pick up on that pattern. Just pay attention and get it working for you.
On a bush, I like to pitch to both sides, trying to pull that fish out of there for the bite. Then the last pitch is right in the thick of it. If I establish that they are only going to bite directly in the thick of it, I usually want waste time trying to draw them out. I just go to braided line and get after them.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

what Donald Harper said is probably the best answer to you're question. the only thing i might add is if you have a situation where you have current then you would definatly want to fish the down current side.

Thanks Don and Charlie...the main reason I asked is I usually fish the shady side in the summer but since it is winter, just wasn't sure if that logic applied.

will tend to be more on the sunny side in the winter but that can change from day to day. The biggest thing is that the bigger hardwood stumps will retain heat from the sun and transmit it down into the water....this time of year, a couple of degrees can make a huge difference.
Also, tend to think more about 12-16" off the actual stump body because that is where the roots will easily flare out to and typically where you will find the fish.

What trees are you referring to? Stumps or full trees? I would suggest you fish the whole thing and figure it out like that. Every day is different

The side with the big hornet nest. You should bump the nest with the jig for maximum results.
