i have a 1986 mariner inline 6 cyl 90 hp there is nothing covering the fromt of the carbs when i tilt my moter up fuel runs out of the carbs. and leaks in the bottom of the motor then eventually leaks into the lake idk what to do.

there never was anything in front and the needle and seats need replacing ,might as well rebuild the carbs , but youll probably always have a little spillage

I have rebuilt them about 4 months ago. I just didn't know if they need to have some kind of cover or filter in front.

If you raise the motor to high they will leak fuel. If they leak before being raised about 35-40 degrees, the floats are set too high.

At the bottom of the cowling, just under the last carb is a tray to catch the fuel. That tray has a hose attached to it that goes into the mid section. The carbon in the midsection usually obsorbes the fuel.
