Anyone using one of these systems? Looking for a 4 rod holder and wondering how these compare to others. Looks like this is the only one that doesn't have a forward support for the rod. Is it stable?

I just bought one and took it out for a test run last Sunday. It's sturdy and the poles are easy to get out of the holders. The forward support is built into the holder, it's a knotch that the handle sits in. This is the first time I've ever used a holder but it seems like it'll work just fine for spider riggin to me.

Thanks Lonestar. Were you using spinning or casting gear?

btw, did you mount the base over carpet? If so, is it easy to remove as an assembly on and off the base?

I use baitcasters on my crappie poles. A 1/2" wrench adjusts anything on this holder and it's simple to slide the holder into the base and tighten it down..
I haven't permanently mounted the base yet, I have a fiberglass CC and didn't want to drill holes in the front deck until I know for sure where I want the base mounted. I had some 1/4" aluminum plate and fabbed a contraption to where I can move it around the front deck but it's anchored with my front seat pedestal. I had the rod holder in the back of my truck so I brought it in my job trailer and snapped a pic so you can kind of see the mount I rigged up. It'll work fine like this but I need to add another cross piece at the back of the base.

Nice set up. Great idea to tie it into the seat pedestal base. Keeps it secure and easily removable.

I just ordered two 4-rod set-ups and an extra mount. I've got an aluminum boat with carpeted decks, that's why I asked about ease of sliding them on and off the mounts. I'll set two mounts up front for spider rigging and one in the back for jigging and then move the one unit back and forth accordingly. Can't wait to get them in, set em up and try em out. Thanks for the info.

I did the same thing as LonestarProud. These holders are as good as every thing else out there. They are a bit wobbly with them like that but are solid as a rock when securely mounted to your deck. The carpet will not affect getting them in and out of the bases.

I have had no problems with mine. I just screwed the mounts into the deck with the hardware provided. I like the way they adjust and hold once set up. They are as good as anything out there and better than some in MHO.

Congrats Crazy Angler! Scott's rod holder seems to be a very well built product, and highly recommended on one of the other forums.

I've communicated with Scott via email and he was quick to respond and answer my questions. Sent me some photos I requested with spinning gear in the rod holders. Nice to deal with a stand up guy. Looks like I made the right choice for rod holders. And thanks to all the comments from my fellow TFFers.

Hello from North Alabama. I enjoy visiting TFF and seeing all the Crappie and reading the good information posted. I live about 25 miles from Scott, the maker of these rod holder sets. There are a number of good rod holders out there; but I chose the Hi-Teks for my boat after a lot of researching. They are well made and very versatile. I crappie and cat fish. I have four sets of both the two and four rod cross bars and four of the high and five of the low risers. All together I have 11 bases "scattered" about my boat. I spider rig, slow troll, drift fish and anchor fish with these holders. I have never lost a rod from these holders. We have hung stumps, rocks, cables, etc. while spider rigging / slow trolling without a rod holder issue. Rods, yes, holders no. We have caught cats over 60lb. while both drifting and on anchor, often in pretty swift current. We get some real hard, heavy pull downs. Scott is a fine young man; and makes and stands behind what I believe to be a very good product.
