banana I got the okay yesterday and started all the paperwork today for the First Inaugural HS Fishing Team here in Crandall. We made the announcement on Pirate TV this morning. With packets ready next week. I think I had about 15 kids come by and give me a shout. I am really pumped about this. This has been a passion of mine for sometime and it is finally happening. Guys we need to take these young people and teach them and continue our sport. For they are the future of fishing. Guys this is a program through SAF (Student Anglers Federation). This is a branch off of the FLW and TBF (Texas Bass Federation). These kids want to move onto college someday and do this at the college level. And some of these are kids are ones that might not go to college if not for a program like this. We need to promote, donate, and keep this thing going. This will give us a sounding board for better grades from some of these kids. We are holding them to same standards as any Athlete participating UIL events. I know a lot of kids that had rather fish than do school work (I was one of them). This will give them an incentive to get their grades up now. I am currently working on sponsors that I am involved with to jump on board with our school and to also donate scholarship money as prize money to organization. I currently have two, maybe a third that is on board with this. We will be putting their logos on our team shirts. We want these kids to fell important and that they have a belonging in the tournament scene.

Your school is lucky to have someone like you around! I wish when I was in high school I wasn't the only person in the whole school that bass fished other than my little brother.

This is a good thing Steve, get in touch with me when you get this ball rolling. I might be able to help out with some weigh in equipment. Sinks, tables and possibly some scales. I will have to see what I can put together and what I have available in storage.

I am thinking we could probably get a group of guys to share the back deck with some of these guys for a Fork event. I am not volunteering Ian with Ignition Bass but I think he has the connections to get it done on Cedar Creek as well.

That's funny, I got the approval yesterday to start one at Forney High School. I had some kids come to me at the beginning of the year and wanted to start one. I recently talked to Steve Holland with Kaufman ISD and he helped me out a lot. He has been working with the middle school kids for a few years and this year is expanding it to high school. E-mail me and maybe we can set-up a tournament, my school e-mail is chad.grace@forneyisd.net

When things slow down a litte from the week. I will get in contact with you. I would love to see us put on another tournamnet for the kids. Kaufman is hosting one along side with BPS in April. Then the state tournament is in May. I will try to get in touch by the weekend. The kids are really fired up about it. I have 2-3 girls that are interested also. This is even better.

Thanks,

Steve

Thats awesome! I asked around about it in high school just three years ago and all I got was laughs! It's amazing to see how far it fishing has come in this short amount of time. Congrats Crandall as much fun as it was beating yall in football my hat is off to you now!

If anybody on here has kids at Kennedale or a hand it the district see if you can spark up something like this. I would love to see my hometown involved in this.
