I am not going to name anyone and i am not going to bash anyonebfor what happened. It was completely an accident and i totally understand they happen even with great companies. While getting my power pole installed they accidentally drilled four holes in my gas tank. They just forgot to remove it. They have gone out of their way to find another one but cant find a replacement. They even went so far as to bid on another boat just to get another tank. I have a champion and they told me that the company that made that tank threw out the molds because champion went under. They have honestly tried to find one and cant and said they cant find anyone to make another one. The only thing they can do is replace it with a smaller tank. They are going to give me a discount on the power pole but havent told me how much yet. They are discussing it. Would you demand it all be done for free ? I know it waw an accident and i dont want to be an a hole because that wont get me anywhere. What would ya ll do?

Is it one of the older plastic tanks like I have in my 92 Champion? If so, have them pull it and have the tank repaired. They can do tmoplstic welding and fix it. I would go this route before I went with a smaller tank.

They said that they have had three different people look at it and said it couldnt be welded. I believe them be ause this mishap is going to cost them a lot more than what it would to get it fixed or replaced.

Is it the plastic tank or an aluminum one? If it is the plastic one I can send you a contact for a guy in Ft. Worth that did some thermoplastic welding for me a few years back......it is worth asking before I would accept a smaller tank

If it were my company and my good name on the line, I would buy another boat of the same year and replace the tank. Then at least I could sleep at night. Just my 2'cents. And yes I do work for the public much of the time. Gotta keep em happy to stay afloat. Sorry for your delima and good luck!

How much smaller of a tank? And what kind of discount are we talking about?

Doesn't really matter what we think though. The important thing is that the company makes you feel as though you are whole once everything is completed.

It is a plastic tank. Going from 52 gallons to 31 gallons. I dont run the lake a whole lot but still frustrating. I am calling them tomorrow to find out the discount. The guy who did it had to talk to the owner before he could tell me anything. I am boping that it is enough that maybe icould get some other stuff done. They are a good company and very reputibale so its not something that iwould never use them again, especially if they make it right. I just not sure what this is worth.

Thats a big difference, but if I was getting much of a discount I would probably walk away happy. 30 gallons is about all I ever have in my boat anyways.

Im not sure how big an area the tank takes up in the compartment on your boat, but it might be okay to look into another boats 50 or so gallon tank and arranging it so it works in yours? Just a thought. honestly if they cant find you a tank that is the same size or close to it, i would demand the power pole for free... Thats just me, and my logic behind this is that if you have a 31 gallon tank and you go out and actually need alot of this gas what happens if you needed that extra gas? Really its just up to you man. Sorry if my idea sounds dumb, i was just thinking out loud to you guys... haha. Sorry for the problems man and i hope you get fixed right

Personally I would not be satisfied with a smaller tank. They made the mistake and it is up to them to make it right. Putting in a smaller tank and offering some kind of discount on the power pole would not be a suitable resolution to me but ultimately it is up to you to decide what you are comfortable with.

If it is just holes they are fixable and the folks should repair it and provide a significant discount for your time and trouble. I would not accept any reduction in fuel capacity if it were me, but I have burned up a full tank in a day on Amistad or Rayburn several times so I needed the 40+ gallons.

That is what I am worried about because I fish amistad 3-4 times a year and we run all over the place sometimes. Guess I am going to call them tomorrow and let them know what I want out pf this.
