Do most of the bass clubs here carry liability insurance (as a club) outside of one of the Federations?

The one I fish does not, we have members sign a form saying the club is not liable for any damages.

FYI- those little non-legal forms would be useless in a court of law... I always laugh when I have to sign one...

the best thing a bass club could do to protect the people running it, would be to form an LLC. That way the only thing someone could sue for would be the name and assets, if any were left after refunding everyone thier membership fees/with interest (dependant on a future trial).... meaning you could dump all the funds before going to a trial. the plaintiff would only receive the "name" of the bass club and $2 that was left in the account.....

and if someone were to sue a bassclub, I think they should be banned from all future tournaments due to unsportsmanlike conduct on a major platform!!!! (just my .02!)

No they don't usually have insurance. And the Federation's insurance seems not worth much... If you read the coverage, a club officer or club member is not covered if another member themselves is hurt or has damages and sues the officers or other members.
