I accidentally posted this in Saltwater Reports earlier, sorry. Can someone tell me how to delete that one?

I'm heading down to the Surfside area in a couple of weeks to do some fishing. Normally I just surf fish but I am thinking about bringing down my 12' jon boat this time. Its a flat bottom with a 5hp outboard and 30lb trolling motor. What are my options as far as places nearby to fish with a small boat? Is Christmas bay too choppy? What about the canal system? Places to launch are also appreciated. Thanks!

Of particular interest I see a road leading into Salt Lake,

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=29.038537,-95.267987&hl=en&ll=29.040262,-95.249748&spn=0.079843,0.130291&sll=29.038537,-95.267987&sspn=0.039922,0.065145&vpsrc=6&t=h&z=13

Can I get in there with my boat? And what's the fishing like in Salt Lake, Nick's Lake, and Drum Bay (which all appear connected and I could get to easily)? Thanks!

I launched regularly at San Louie Pass County Park in a 14' Jon boat last summer. It's on the west side of the pass. The ramp is free of charge. The fishing is great and the boat traffic isn't bad since everyone there is fishing. Keep to the left side of the lagoon until you get in the pass or you'll bottom out.
You can fish Cold Pass, just go left, or go out in Christmas Bay (keep going to the left). Christmas bay is very shallow in most places. Fishing around Bird Island (Galveston Bay, go right) is usually decent but water is choppier.
I sent you a PM that has whole list of places to try. Avoid the ones near the channel.

If you stay away from where pleasure craft are, you'll be much better off.
Most people that are fishing will slow down and look out for you. Most pleasure craft don't care what happens to you.
Good Luck!

Thanks! What species will be back in the Cold Pass / Christmas Bay area at this time of year? And what's the best method to fish for them? I really appreciate all the help!
