I agree with 3 hours, but the closer to home is better. I'm usually beat when I come off the water and looking for a nap.

I would say around 150 miles each way.
So 2.5 hours is about my max.

3 hours for me - more out of necessity than choice. The difficulty is trying to be on the water by sunrise (3am alarm clock) and then drive back same day.

I don't usually travel more than an hour but that gives me several options. Happy B-day Monty

Kind of like asking how far to go to buy groceries?.....Whatever it takes.

Living in SE Texas, we can choose from 1/2 dozen good lakes within 90 minutes, but when I lived out in West Texas, would travel 4-6 hours just to day fish.

2 hours. I'd rather fish than drive.

3 hours. driving back after fishing all day isn't much fun.
