For all of you sunfish fishermen in my opinion Gulp Alive 1 inch minnows are the best artificial sunfish lures out on the market. Their also very easy baits to fish. I have had numerous amounts of success on these. They also catch lots of crappie and few small bass. I recommend an ultra light rod and reel with 4-6 Ib test. Catching crappie on these is a blast. My favorite lake to fish these baits is Lake LBJ from one of the resorts marinas. They also catch saltwater fish such as whiting and small pompano and I've even hooked up on Spanish mackerel in the surf with these baits. I've even caught hardheads with this bait.

I concur! Back before Lake Conroe got so low I'd annihilate the big bluegill with the gulp minnows every cast!

I agree that these are an excellent all around bait for smaller species of fish. I have caught numerous channel cats and white bass with them as well.

I use a jig head(1/64 ounce or 1/32 ounce)I let them sit for a while then jerk them a little. Sometimes fish hit and miss them. If he misses just let the bait sit there.

Me too love Gulp, but I'll say it before BAF does, nothing beats a natural worm for gills. Problem is I own everything under the sun. Maybe I'll sell it all off on eBay.

Gulp products are great for cold water temps or any time that fish are inactive. But, when the water warms and the fish become more active and feed aggressively there are faster ways to catch them. If I could only have one lure all year long, it would have to be a triple tip grub. They get those reaction strikes when you swim, hop, jig, etc them fast in the warm months, and get bit consistantly when dragged, jigged, deadsticked, etc in the cooler months. Triple tips aren't my favorite panfish lure, but I don't go fishing without a good assortment of them.
But, when the water is cold and/or the fish are inactive, it's hard to beat Gulp products. It seems like everytime I have a day to remember on the water, if one lure style/technique worked all day and/or the fish couldn't stay off of it, it becomes my favorite...... until the next trip when the next lure/technique is on fire.

i agree. 1" minnow, just by using in the fall/early winter i could tell that it is gonna be a spring spectacular. ive gotten up to a 16" bass, tons of bluegill, greens, red/orangespots, long ears just about any sunfish. i even carry them with me on my hs bass tournaments. it might be all i use during the spawn, might be. i carolina hook mine, or hook like a live minnow. depends on water temp on how i retrieve, generally 4 medium speed reels then a pop, count to 4 on the drop then repeat. i cant wait ti try it under a light, or through a school!
