Im gonna be taking some soldiers just back out fishing soon. Some other posts and that got me thinking. How many people would be game for me calling the base (prob Ft Hood maybe oth ers) and trying to set up a day to take out as many soldiers out fishing as possible? Im not positive if the base would help out... but I would think they would.... And the day is up in the air. Im just thinking about trying to get something going and who else here would help out if they could.

i would be honored to help! we could probably use some advise from my buddie parttime! he does a "wounded warrior" fishing outing every year down south! just a thought but count me in!

Ok guys, i looked up the take a soldier fishing now ill look up the wounder warrior.... see what I can do to set something up. I have taken several soldier's out but havent set up a mass outing... ill see what I can work out

Larry, pm me or send me an email. I have some contacts you will need at Ft. Hood. Like MWR, I also have the number to the guy who runs the fishing for freedom. Its huge here, 200-300 soldiers every year. Cliff is a retired CW4 pilot from the army and works very close to all programs on Fort Hood. He also owns Texas Boat World in Harker Heights (Ft. Hood commmunity). So far I have been unsuccessful to have a catfishing weigh in added to their tournament.

You will need to be sure and have a boat count for them and how many you can handle. If you need a man down here near Ft. Hood I would be honored to help. Depending on time frame, might be able to get the Academy's down here to help in some way, maybe also Cliff at Texas Boat World even though he's a big bass fisherman .

I spoke to someone who has alot of experience setting these things up and now need to do some homework and check into places around here and see how many people we can accomidate and make sure there willing to help out.
I would like to do it sooner but from what im told to set things up right.. I think Feb might be a more realistic time frame to make it happen. Right now the only weekend I have free is the 3, 4 and 5th.. with fising on Sat the 4th.... anyone know of anything big going on that weekend? If not.. i might try to tentativly ask about that weekend when checking on accomidations and such....

Ok This thing was trying to get alot bigger than I had planned. I think im getting some contacts to Ft Hood to make this a small to medium size group. Im thinking 10 to 20 soldiers in this area would be a big group to try and help out. Accomidations is a big issue in my opinion.. so Im gonna scale this down a bit. If anyone has a better idea let me know, but with who I know and deal with (and the lake being down)....I dont know how to accomidate them all!
