 Trim Tab Question

Last time out my trim tab fell off. The boat originally came with cable steering but has since converted to hydraulic.
Do I even need a trim tab anymore or should I just plate it off. If I do, where can I find one for a '94 Merc. 200?

The easy answer is "yes" you still need a the trim tab on the engine.
1. Although you can no longer feel as much torque with the hydrolic steering, it is still there.
2. The trim tab is also normally one of the sacrificial anodes on the engine that helps prevent electrollis(sp).
Get them at about any boat dealer that handles Mercury, also West Marine, etc.
Check and see if you still have the bolt that held it on, you may need one of those also.

If you look at some of the newer motors the hole is just plated over. My 2000 Mercury 200 EFI on my BassCat came that way and I have experienced no problems with the handling.

Ckech out the skeg on the newer motors, they have a kick to them that acts like a trim tab. Recomend replacing yours Snake...
