Justin,

My very first boat was converted from skiing to fishing using a transom mount tm on the bow. Back then there was a set screw/collar holding the control head on and it was just a matter of loosening up the set screw, turning the handle/head 180 degrees and tightening the set screw back down. Never had a problem with it. This was back in 70's and 80's. Don't know if it would be that simple today. Hope this helps.

Charlie

May you have a blessed day.

Can anyone tell me if it is worth it for me to buy a TM for my boat. I am new to boating and fishing but plan on being in it for life. I have a 22' power catamaran w/twin motors. I bought this type of boat so I can hit fresh or saltwater and just sleep on the lake on the weekends. I like to fish for Stripers/Sandbass/Catfish/Crappie.

I am going to by a sea anchor but I'm really iffy on the TM b/c i would have to get the engine mount type w/ about 110lb thrust. That particular TM costs anywhere between $1000-$2000. BUT, I want to be able to get into the fish without scaring them off.
Is there a way I can do this without a TM, or should I go ahead and spend the $.

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

Spend the $$$ you won't be sorry. Several reasons. Boat control while drifting, fishing shoreline, chasing the schools quitely, ect... as well as a backup motor in case something goes haywire with the main. I know you have twins but.... maybe some one else can add to this. This is just a short list,my main reasons for a TM.

ProKat22......Phototom said it best...It's ALWAYS worth the money, when it comes to stuff for your boat. Sounds like it's your passion..and that's what spending your money on is all about. Do it!...and be glad you did! fish

if you get a trolling motor i would go with the biggest 36v you can find, because it will take alot of thrust to pull that big boat.

Look at pricing trim tabs with twin machetes mounted on them, too.

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Thanks for the replies so far. I believe I will get the TM next. I will put it above the Windless on the list of wants.

Quick Question for OLDFROG.... I have trim tabs, but what is the machetes you mentioned?

Thanks again for your replies.
