Question for MikeL or anyone with an oil injected Mercury. I have a 2002 150hp carb'ed Mercury with the oil tank in the boat and the reservoir tank on front of the motor. How much oil should be in the reservoir on the front of the motor. I'm running 2/3rds full. The sensor cap is submerged in the oil and tight, but does the reservoir need to be completely full ? Reason for the question.....at the lake the other day I was getting alot of beeping, which I'm thinking/hoping was the in dash depth gauge. The warning buzzer for low oil level is suppose to be short beeps. They both sound pretty much alike.I have disabled the depth gauge, but haven't gotten it back to the lake to check. I wanted to get ya'lls input first. If its just the depth gauge,I'll have to figure out how to shut the alarm off.LOL. I thinking it might be a good idea to install a LED light in the dash tied in with the oil level/overheat buzzer.

Thanks for any input

Procraft, I am no expert on your inquiry. I do have the oil tank mounted near the fuel tank and I try to keep it at least half full. As far as the oil resevoir on the motor being low on oil, my guess is that it is not pumping enough from the main tank. I have not had a problem with the buzzer coming on.

I suggest you call Greg Bossaller (Service Manager)at Fun n Sun Sporting Center in Hurst. His phone number is 817-280-0303. I just got my boat back from them for my yearly service. Everything checked out OK.

Let me know what you find out.

Good luck!

You need to top it off. Make sure the cap is put back on tight and the cap on the main tank is tight. If you're at the lake and it's low, you can pull your hood, loosen the cap on the motor mounted oil tank and let the motor idle. It will fill it back up that way.

So the motor mounted tank should be totally full ? I'll check it out and see what it does while running. I might be just paranoid, but I don't want to take any chances.
Thanks for the input.

Had the exact same problem on my 200 EFI the reservoir was a bit low and the buzzer kept going off on until it was topped off as Tx Champ advised. Alleviated the problem immediately.
