I had it done at area lake marine on hubbard. Darrell is the guy 214-707-0369. Just a couple of good ol boys working on boats over there. I had the fuel pump replaced, compression check and carb job for around $400. The cost of the regular fuel pump was about half of putting a new VRO pump in. I have an extra oil res. if you need one. It even has some oil in it!

blackdog, check out DFI Technologies / They remanufacture the OMS which is the 2 latest versions of the OMC/Bomb oil mixer. Only difference is that there is no more Variable to it. They typically want a core and will not take the VRO-2 which is what I had as well. But they may have enough pumps in stock that they'll sell you one anyway and just charge you the core charge in addition. That's what they did for me 2 years ago now. Their part number is 4384xx where xx is your configuration. They'll want your old pump where they can configure the in & out nipples and their size.

Also get you a copy of the January 2000 Bass & Walleye Boats. Bill Grannis has an article in it about the VRO and has some good technical info if you do it yourself. I'd relace hoses, clamps, clean or replace the screen in the oil tank and replace the pulse limiter with the current "blue" one. I had less than $175 in mine after it was all said & done and had about 3 hrs of time invested. E-mail me if I can be of further help.

Good Luck!

Just bought one for my 95 Johnson 150 a week ago at Barber Boats. Very helpful in telling me how to change it. Did it myself in less than two hours. Checked with three boat shops prior to doing myself and all wanted 2 hours labor to do it. Really quite easy. Paid $250 for the part so really wish I would have had the rebuild info before I took the plunge.
I still have the old one if its any use to anyone. Don't know if it really had anything wrong with it, I just couldn't afford to risk blowing a motor as this is a recently aquired motor off a repo.

recentlyhooked, if your old one has the metal retainers for all the hose hipples, you can probably sell it to DFI for a core. Or maybe make a deal with blackdog. It should also have the part number starting with 4384xx where xx wil be two more numbers.

TX Champ - It does have the metal retainers for the hose nipples and the pulse limiter is the blue one you talked about earlier. I will check DFI to see if they can use it. Part number is 438285
Thanks for the info.

Cool! I think they give $25 for a core. Like I said though, might get with blackdog and sell it to him. That way he'd have a core to send them for his.
