Not good deal for our farmers and wild animals. The guy that I lease my farm to is wanting to increase the farm insurance for the crops next year .

A depressing read for sure but I believe(hope) we will be ok. The weatherman/woman can't predict correctly 2 days in a row.So chances for 6 months ahead it's on our side.Well here's hoping I'm right and they're wrong.

Where we are at(DFW area),we have had a rain each week for about the last 4 or 5 weeks. But its been a quarter of an inch each time. We are thankful for any rain we can get,but a quarter of an inch a week does not add any water to the area lakes.

This begs the question - what are our water resource managers PLANS? Many areas west of the Metro mess will be OUT of water - many many watersheds in Texas have CEASED to flow(except for gray water)
Sixty days of 100+ temps and it really will be an EMERGENCY

Sixty days of 100+ temps and it really will be an EMERGENCY An excellent point. The water resource managers do not seem to realize the extent of the problem. The Weatherford utility board, which manages Lake Weatherford, is still selling water to the oil companies and have not imposed meaningful water restrictions. They stopped importing water from Benbrook because of the cost of running the pumps, which is trivial compared to the income the lake brings in. The whole problem can be summarized in one word: greed. The utility board manages the lake to minimize the member's personal utility costs and taxes. I am sure similar considerations exist on other lakes.

Sixty days of 100+ temps and it really will be an EMERGENCY What really sticks in my craw is the city of Dallas just went on Stage 1. The snobs in Highland Park probably had something to do with that. In Dallas I think (residential users only) that 1% use 90% of the water. It is just like the 1% that control 99% of the money. I am waiting for the day when the NTWA has to ask Dallas for water. The price will be interesting. We just might run out of water before oil. First we need water then food to survive.

Farmers Almanac says it is going to be a Wet winter. Go Figure. We had an inch and a half of rain this past week and prior to that we have been getting anywhere from a half inch of rain up to 2 inches of rain since mid September per week. This is in the San Antonio/South Texas area. We are still 12 inches below normal. Weather man stated that we are in a pattern to get rain once a week for the next few weeks. I will take as much as the good lord will give us. So far the Creeks in the San Antonio area are holding up well. I was just in south Texas and a few of the creeks I was able to see were holding some water. Keep praying for rain. It is going to take a hurricane to help some of these lakes fully recover.
Oh yea forecast is saying rain Thursday night,Friday, and Saturday. 70 percent chance for some good showers.
