Went out there yesterday to have a look from Palestine. We forgot to look at the ramp, but the lady said one lane is open. We walked around the fishing lounges at the marina (5 per person). We didnt get a thump but the other people said the crappie was not hitting, only a occasional. Seen someone that was catching catfishing 2 to 3 ponders. The water around the barge's were about 4-6 foot deep. They said sometimes you can catch'em if they are biting, but that anywhere of course.

Do you know if it's 4-6 ft everywhere in the marina or just by the store?

So the question is do crappie go shallow in the winter because it's closer to the sun or do they stay deep?

So the question is do crappie go shallow in the winter because it's closer to the sun or do they stay deep? Short answer: Both. They follow the food source.

marinas will generally have fish around them most of the year because of the aqlgea growing around the marina attracts baitfish, and lights left on all night attract baitfish and the barges and piers provide shade and cover. The crappie may not stay in the marinas, but will move in at night to feed sometimes.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
