Got tired of hauling boats on the roof so I built a pirogue and cut it into 4 pieces with bulkheads spaced where it would nest together. Today we tested it fishing for the first time on LL. Performed well and we caught a bunch of slab crappie and sandbass. I plan to add a removable skeg and build some outriggers for more windy conditions. nested during construction at the creek partially assembled slab crappie blue cat (broke my rod tip but the fight was worth it) Here is a shame, a deer that was hit by a car.

Hey Tony, if you don't mind, could you show us how you designed that boat to come apart and reassemble?

Hi Mr sure, well, here is a bit more elaboration on the boat at least.. For starters, the general construction is very close to the "cheap canoe" http://www.bateau2.com/free/cheapcanoe.htmThe biggest deviation is that the sides are an even 12" (straight sides, very little rocker). The length is about 15'. The beam is about 28". I angled the stern and bow sections about 2" downwards so that water would slope off of the deck. The section lengths from front to back are are 3', 4', 4 1/2', 3 1/2'. Here is a crude model I put together to make sure it would work. I realized a bit too late that I should have built the bulk heads first and then cut it apart. By drilling a series of small holes it would have been pretty easy. Overall though this is a easy boat to build. The bulk heads are reinforced by vertical boards and the bolts holding the boat together are eyebolts + wing nuts so no tools are needed.
