One of my favorite trips of the year. The Fredricksburg Fly Fishers do it right, with Oktoberfisch. Many from our club make this trip every year, and have a great time. Fishing, going to classes, eating, and a little drinking!! The Mexia group led by Bill Ward cook a great steak to end the weekend on Saturday night. Loads of fun, and some fabulous fishing. The river was not in great shape with the recent rains. Off color due to the runoff from the fire, and from the recent rain. Rocks along the river look like tar balls, and the water was tea colored from the cedar tree needles. but we did find clear water at Castell, and semi clear water west of Junction.

My wife and I really enjoyed our first trip to Octoberfisch, the people were extremely nice and the free casting lessons were worth the trip by themselves. The weather was perfect and the food was great. Looking forward to going again next year.

This was our 5th Oktoberfisch, and we loved the trip again, this year, too, and in fact, last year's Oktoberfisch was our Honeymoon! We went as far as we could go upstream, and the water was really, really clear, and farther downstream, past the Park, there were coves where the water was clear but the main body was not. However, the river still yielded some great fish, clear or murky. It was good seeing you at the dinner, Russell, and we like your photos and fish!
