What is the best store bought product to use to remove the water ring from the boat hull (white in color)? Its been on there for years! Something that can be done by hand. I found something called Starbright Hull Cleaner but I would like to make sure whatever I get has been tried and tested before I just take the labels promise that it works. Thanks!

Muriatic Acid, full strength. Wear rubber gloves. You can get it at Lowe's or any place that sells pool cleaning supplies.

try bleach first. it usually works if not, wet sand a small patch with 1500 grit to see if that does the trick. muriatic is some stout stuff be sure to wear the right gloves and stuff. is this on fiberglass? if it is try bleach first.

I just ordered some NuHull cleaner, found a lot of positive votes for it. My hull is white too so hope it works well, supposed to be a spray on, rinse off, unless real bad.
I'll try and remember to post when I try it.

Limeaway may also work. if you're squeamish about using muriatic acid, you might try the 9% vinegar from the grocery store. I've used it to remove lime deposits from small parts.

I've got a white hull also. I bought FSR (Fiberglass Stain Remover). I too had a bad scum line 1-1 1/2 years old. I don't know if I'm lazy or just spend all my free time fishing. But you just put it on and wipe it off. No elbow grease involved. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 20 and I am not sponsored or affiliated with them in any way.
