I'm heading to port a on the 22nd for a few days and want to get on some reds, problem is I've got no idea what to do. I've got the setup with my boat, just no idea what to do, where to start or what to use. Open to all advise, thanks for your help.

WHAT setup with ur boat, what size, what rods and reels ,if u fish the jetties in the channel ur gonna need good anchor about 70 ft.of rope,if u have a graph see where the channel and rocks taper off anchor at edge, single or 2 hook drop leaders and weights, live mullet, piggies for fishing on the bottom..Or u can walk the jetties where u can fish either side beach or channel,,Thats for starters...Bill

Sorry I should clarify I'm setup for the flats, 16ft Carolina skiff with a jack plate. I think the channel will be too much for my boat but interested in knowing more about the bay.

Can't tell you much about where to fish in P.A., other than put in at the public ramp by the ferry landing. Quarantine shore up the Lydia Ann channel might be a good place to start. Go up the Shrimp Boat channel that runs next to hwy. 361 towards A.P., when you get to Crab Man Marina turn right to get on South Bay.
Shoot me a pm if you are open to trailering to Cove Harbor in Rockport.

OK ,,the jetties definetly out, yes putting in the free launch coming out of the marina got three ways to go backup shoreline back towards Corpus or jog to the right and up Lidianne channel towards the lighthouse or back to left up or down whichever back towards aransas pass ::[pickup a map ]::and many places u can go back to right with ur boat in shallow water.U`ll need live shrimp and or live croakers or piggies will work under a rattle popper cork, with a 12in.leader and circle hook.Unless u plan throwing plugs etc.,,Bill

Bill, thanks for the help so far, how do I go about locating them in the flats and where do you get the piggies? Sorry to sound like such a newbie, but that's exactly what I am, I fished in a small rental skiff in June in redfish bay with no luck, we used live shrimp and we got tons on hits, just everything was small and nothing you wanted, catfish etc. Any other advice you got, I'm from ft worth too.
