I can remember when they were out I have a Ray Scott rod that was bought when B.A.S.S had the Outhouse catalog. I believe Cordell rods were in there as well this was way back in the 70s.

Cotten Cordell sold rods after he sold out his lure company. I have one that is autographed by him. I think he mostly sold them at shows.

I have only seen one and it was in a pawn shop with a revo sx. I bought it for 25 bucks and sold the revo on ebay. I broke the rod on a crankbait fish about 3 months ago.

Mike Cordell use to sell his rods at the fishing shows in Houston back in the 80's. I loved them then and still do. I have started replacing them for new lighter rods but stil use them. I am gonna pass them down to mt grandson. I paid 35 to 40 each for them back then

I bought an open face rod from Mike Cordell back in or around 82 in the San Antonio Boat Show. Absolutely loved it. It was a major sensitive rod that would compete with todays $150+ rigs. Really hated when I snapped the real seat out. Mike would sign your and his name on each rod. And they sold for $20.

Brand new to the forum and enjoying it immensely...a tremendous wealth of information!

I found this forum when I went looking for information on Cotton Cordell fishing rods. I’ve got 9 or 10 of them...they’re(still) my primary rods. All are longer 6-7’ casting rods, most equipped with V-mag 40 reels. They just don’t make them like that anymore! I’m looking forward to using them to teach our grandkids to run bait casting reels and ultimately passing the gear on to the youngsters!
