Does anybody know of a source for copper spoons like the Johnson Sprite, which I hear is discontinued?

So, I did a quick internet search. Looks like you can not get them any more. I had never even realized there was a copper color. I saw a few imitations, but most opinions were that they were not as good as the Johnson.

I remember seeing these about 20 years ago. I dont think they were copper, but copper-plated.

Adan, you may well be right about them being copper plated although I don't recall them ever tarnishing through the copper to some base metal. Copper plating??, Hmm, let me see if I can find an old chemistry text or something with a reference to electrolytic plating--who knows.

Yeah, you may be right. I was assuming theyre plated since copper can be a soft metal can bend easily.

Go on Ebay and buy waterproof copper scale lure tape such as this:

www.ebay.com/itm/350287098866?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Or go to someone like Mudhole or Barlow tackle website and buy the spoon blanks from them in copper.

Do an Ebay search for copper spoon.

I've bought a few of those Copper Sprites by accident, thought they were Gold(Its TRUE! Your eyesight is shot by Age 40); Not much luck at all..Gold(off colored water) and Silver(Clearer water), does it need to be any easier?

May not be any easier, but when you can catch fish on copper and get skunked on gold or silver---- Been there, done that.Ask the fish why.

You can always try Ebay. I have found some oldies there.

Never said they would not work.....I guess they work so good that Johnson stopped producing that copper junk! I'd give 100 Copper spoons for 5 Gold or silver ones..Fish can't speak.

Never a problem to have a couple of copper Sprites in the box for just in case. It's especially true for those of us that have to TRAVEL to get to the coast to fish. A couple of copper Sprites might be some cheap insurance against a fishless trip. Anyway, searching out these oddities on Ebay makes the time pass between fishing trips.
