I have been keeping a boat fund the last couple of years and it makes my life much easier. Used to if I neeeded to spend money on fixing my Skeeter, I had to discuss the purchase with the wife. hammer That ain't fun.

I always pay cash at the boat shop. Lady there said, she is surprised how many guys do pay cash. Put it on a card and get ready to fight at home.

Sometimes I'll take some out for tackle as well. Can't pass up a deal on reels or rods!

How many of you do the same?

Nope, pretty well do what I want, when I want with regards to boat and fishing tackle expenses. Been married for 31years and never had any problems.
Of course, I always made sure kids needs were taken care of and bills were paid first......

Another good rule for my boat/fishing fund...

Never ever, let money allocated for this fund slip back into the general family fund.

I'm single so I don't have those same spouse worries. I also pay cash for EVERYTHING. If I can't pay cash for something I want or need, then I do without until I can.

I do the same, keep a fund for fishing, boat, tourny's and guitar. Pay cash for most of it, and try not to let it get to low. Keeps the wife happy that way, she is a miser when it comes to money.

My wife sees ALL of my purchases because it's all on the debit card. Worst thing to have is direct deposit, I'm always broke. I'm used to sleeping on the couch!

My wife and I don't share an acct. I pay cash for 90% of the things I buy but she's none the wiser either way. Best thing I've done in 12 years of marriage.

Tell her you had a slight pay cut... open up and 2nd account and have 10 to 15 % of every check direct deposited into your "fishing" account and the rest into the main account...
