A good friend of mine Dana Deason, and his father in law, Don Talley recently purchased Barefoot Bay Marina on Lake Bob Sandlin. This is great news for the fishing community, Lake Bob Sandlin and the surrounding area.
I've spoke to Dana and they have big plans that are going to be top notch. Dana is remodeling the entire area, fully stocking the store with convenience items, fishing tackle, ethanol free waterside gas pumps, drive up gas pumps and much much more. Their longer term plan is full renovation of the property and creating a family friendly resort.
As of now (in time for the Poor Mans Tournament), they have consistent hours and will be operated from 6am - 10pm. On days when there is a tournament out of the location they plan to open the store at 4:30am with hot coffee and breadfast food items ready. Don has 40 years in the convenience store business and I'm sure the area will benefit from the new operators. The lake is low but the ramp at Barefoot is fine. Just passing along some good news for the fishing family. So stop by and give Dana some support!!

Make that November 5-6th. We will vote on which lake which day. Dates were changed months ago when we could not get accommodations for the 12-13th

is this the same Don Talley that owned the drive thru beer barns in longview?

The week of 10-16 to 10-23 C.A.S.T. will be there. Alot of people will be there all week fishing Bob Sandlin and Cypress

I keep wavering on where I want to go fish tomorrow. After reading this and not having gone to Bob Sandlin in a long time, I'm thinking I may give it a try. How is the fishing there these days, any tips besides putting in at Barefoot Bay?

Whoops, never mind... I just checked the Bass Tournament Finder and see the Poormans tourney is tomorrow. Not being a tourney fisherman, I'll let y'all have it tomorrow and not ask for anyone to give away any tips the day before the tourney.

So how long before Don brings his "Don's Darlings" to Barefoot? You think he'll setup a hot tub by the main gate with girls in there acting a fool like he did with his Fly Thru Beer Barn?

With Don and Dana, there is no telling what they have up their sleeves! It's going to be good, any time Dana and Don touch something it turns to GOLD.
