I am heading there Thanksgiving week.

The record for rod and reel carp is a pathetic 8, but the buff is like 38#.

BF rec for carp is like 22#

I've heard some good reports about crappie, but nothing about carp or buffs. You can look on the TPWD lake records and see that the record buff is 38.5, and the record common carp just 8 lbs! Looks like an easy record if you can catch anything!

Since it has a-gar to 122, blue cats to 62, there ought to be some bigger carp and buffs there as well.

Thats what I was thinking. I guess I will have a lake record that is over 5 hours from my house! lol

Yes; its far from Houston too, so I haven't considered fishing it. I guess I'm a creature of convenience...

We've seen pics from the crappie guys that look in the 20's. Earnest Paty i think it was caught a low teens to 20ish mirror with pics to prove it.

i have fished the lake, problem i have seen is places to stay where you dont feel unwanted, and most places around are shallow as far as you can cast. when me,jesse,jeff, fished it a while back it started off with carp at 18lbs, then after a while it was all smaller low numbers, jeff did get a big flathead tho. i had a friend at the time who let us all use a POA dock.

im a hour from there ted, let me know and ill make it up and we can give it hell together.

yeah its really shallow at most spots.

Hopefully, the father in law will have his bass boat and I will map out different depths as well as feed specific spots

Yeah much like Athens I think a boat is needed. CC is not a bad drive for me and its an awesome lake. Probably my favorite in the area, or tied with Fork.

Well, I just found out that there will be no boat for this trip. I guess I will just have to hope for the best and wing it.
