Got there around 10:30'ish, PM, with a new fishing buddy, Mr Lupe Martinez. He wanted to fish same gear as me, same lures as me, same technique as me. He said, "Teach me!"

Folks we got a fast learner here. I rigged up one of my Quantum Optix 10 r/r's, 6 lb Trilene XL, tandem 1/16th oz hollow body tubes, on UNPAINTED jig heads, showed him my "through the finger" technique, and before i could get my pole rigged up, he was hauling in a 12 inch LMB!

We hooked and lost a few more dinks, then we moved to my "sweet spot". Before i could get my hooks in the water, Lupe had his first keeper LMB! We caught a few more, I lost one in the 6 lb range, had another break off before i could see how big he was, and we called it a night around midnight, the time i had promised my better 3/4's that i would head home, and Lupe's wife called to see when he was coming home. Lupe took home 4 keepers, and now he wants to do it again as soon as possible. I guess he buys into my methods!

My new fishing buddy Lupe, and a rather respectable stringer! He's gonna have em for dinner today!

BTW, Lupe is a retired Chef, has worked at some world class hotels and i am sure would be quite open to helping us with some great fish prep recipes!

Nice job Rudy. You are referring to the LC canals right? Have you hit up that elm fork location since I saw you last?...or is it still too hot?

Lupe and I went back tonight, but i think the front kinda made em skittish. I caught 4 fish, 4 different species, all within a 15 minute span! First one was a 10-11 inch yellow bass, a nice one for a yellow, then a hand sized bluegill, then a barely 14 inch bass, then a 10 inch crappie! Right after that, i hung a hawg bass, well over 6 lbs, that broke my too tight set drag! He jumped AFTER the line broke, trying to shake my jig out of his jaw! I caught another tiny crappie, Lupe caught a just hatched Greenie, and i caught a just hatched bass! Then we called it a night. We fished for maybe an hour, between 10:30 and 11:30 PM. nice north breeze but i am pretty sure that had a lot to do with the fishing slowing down so much.
