My son has a cross country meet at North Lakes Park in Denton this weekend and when checking it out for location/directions, I noticed there are two ponds at the park, City of Denton lists a fishing pier on the North Lake.

Anyone have any info / knowledge of the fishing at either of the lakes at this park? Thinking about throwing a pole in the car with me when we go up there for the meet.

Might also search North Lake ponds in the Bank section, I don't remember which pond but one holds decent cats if I I remember, may have bass as well

That pond sounds like quick fun I will have to try to check this one out moving from california. Just have to find the directions and see if there is some bass in there.

The south pond has decent bass but is best fished by boat.

Do they allow boats (kayaks) on those ponds?

Both ponds in north AND south lakes park have bass in them, the southern north lakes park pond has some really big ones but its hard to fish bc its a big bowl, the northern north lakes park pond has a lot of catfish, bass and golden shiners but the bass are a bit tough to get a bite. In the summer the southern south lakes pond gets stocked with channel cats by the tpwd and trout in the winter. the nothern south lakes pond has bass and idk hat else(there is supposedly a few flatheads in there for some reason).

EDIT: Also, the southern north lakes pond is chock full of small carp laugh

Don't wade in the northern North Lakes pond. BIG snapping turtles.

I noticed that two of the three bamboo markers I put in have come loose and floated away.

So I fished North Lakes yesterday. Targeted Common Carp. Bait was a pack bait corn mixture. I spent about 20 minutes around the parking lot, 20 minutes around the North, West, and South sides. Rotated frequently to avoid soaking bait. I was unsuccessful and decided to cast out while I pack up. To my surprise my fishing pole started screaming line off the real and a nice sized carp ripped it off the rod holder and into the water. Fortunately, I was a couple feet away from the rods and was able to wade through the water and retrieve it. (Good thing too because it was a Abu Garcia Pro-Max combo).
I was right next to the parking lot and it didn't look to be very deep. Does anybody have any information on the depth of the water in this area? It looks to get deeper out towards the middle of the pond but I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure. This information could greatly impact the success of my fishing trips.

Does anybody carp fish this area? If so, any success? Even if you don't carp fish, what are ya'll catching?

Give a man a fish he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend!
