Don't remember seeing much about these on here. Anyone using them? Picked up a couple at the Minnow Bucket Monday but didn't take one out of the package till I got home, which was probably a mistake. These jigs look great especially the spider leg rattles.

Jigs are not a confidence bait for many. It takes talking to the folks that jig alot. I for one am interested in jigs, but rarely fish them. Oh, I'll punch wood flip'n & pitch'n but far as swimm'n a jig, I'm lame in tht dept.

Actually jigs are talked about quite a bit on here. Many different brands, styles and colors have been discussed on here as well as favorite trailers and colors. I make my own jig skirts and several members make their own jigs. Several jig companies are represented here also. Jigs are a great quality fish bait and have been around for many years. Jigs are my favorite bait to throw.

One thing that was told to me way back when I first started fishing Jigs, if you aint gettin bit, you are fishing to fast, slow down and still if not getting bit, slow down more.

But then again the Bass didnt read the same book, some like it swimming.

If you are catching a lot of smaller fish tie on a jig you Sony get a lot of bites but the ones you do get will be good ones. It doesn't take long to get confidence in a bait that catches 5lb fish. The key is the speed you fish it. I prefer to fish baits fast but with a jig you have to slow down. I like black and blue 3/8 with a blue sapphire speed craw.

Lockhart makes a good product and its made in Texas.

A month ago at Fork I had to literally crawl the jig across the bottom to get bit. If I hopped it or swam it I could not get bit. We had 55 bass that day up to 8#. About 30 of them came on a 3/4 oz FB jig. The others came on a C-rig. The next morning we had 2 hours to fish before my guests had to hit the road back to Austin. We went back to the same spot. They caught 14 on a C-rig while I had ONE on my jig. smirk

You have to let the fish tell you what they want. You can't tell them....

I've always liked their head design, but there is no barb to keep your trailer on.

if i cant utilize a trailer effectively on a jig, i dont use it. the trailer is half the importance of the jig.

i can take a 1/4 ounce swim jig and make it heavier or lighter depending on what trailer I use. its amazing the versatility of a good jig.

When I looked at their website more closely, I didn't see what I bought at Minnow Bucket. It was a 3/4 oz football head in sort of a green pumpkin/green flake color and it does have a barb to hold the trailer. Hmmmmmmm, wonder if those were special order.

Mostly I have used Strike King and take off the rattle because with it on the barb is not very helpful. The Lockhart spider leg rattle can go far enough up so the barb still holds the trailer good. And the hook on it looks much better than the Strike King.

Lockhart 3/4oz football jig with spider leg rattle.

But I guess now that Ronnie has gone to Santone, I'll have to try one of those too.
